Chris Castiglione
University of Amsterdam, New Media MA Graduate

Chris Castiglione is a new media theorist, musician and recent New Media MA graduate from the University of Amsterdam.
Over the past two years he has written extensively on issues surrounding the “music industry”: arguing that musicians are benefiting from piracy and the free online distribution of media.
Earlier this year he was awarded 3rd prize in the University of California Santa Barbara BlueSky Innovation Competition on “Social Computing in 2020” for his project “Anatomical Analytics”. He also recently participated in The Institute of Network Cultures’ Winter Camp project and contributed two entries to its publication From Weak Ties to Organized Networks.
Prior to coming to Amsterdam he was the Senior Web Developer at the Washington D.C. based media firm Omnistudio. He also acted as the online media manager at New York City’s Lanteck Studios and MLC Advertising.
Chris holds a MA in New Media from the University of Amsterdam and a BS in Media Arts and Design from James Madison University.
