Are the Current Ecosystems of Wireline and Wireless Still Relevant?

Are the current eco-systems of wireline and wireless still relevant? Are bodies like the ITU, 3GPP, GSMA and NGMN setting the correct goals for a sustainable future or are they holding the industry back? Are national regulators truly leading or have they taken soft-touch regulation too far? Do today's vendors really believe in the direction being set by the wider industry or are they just milking the situation until something breaks?
