All over Europe we can see innovative, meshed community wireless
networks. These range from a couple of hundred nodes to 7000. Most of
these networks are built and maintained by users of the network. What
are the motivations and driving forces behind these networks? Imagine
what a peer2peer built wireless and fibre network can do and offer for
its users while running for a fraction of the costs of existing ISP
models.
Aaron will talk about the history of community wireless networks, lessons learned and their future directions.
Special focus will be put on the OLSR-NG project which made the OLSR (RFC3626) mesh routing protocol highly scalable.
